Dharamshala: Tibetans in Miao Choephelling and Tezu Dhargyeling organised a grand reception in honour of Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, the President of Central Tibetan Administration who visited the Tibetan settlements on the third leg of his farewell tour from 26 – 27 February.
Having almost completed his ten-year term as the elected political head of Tibetans, Sikyong Dr Sangay embarked on a farewell tour to Tibetan settlements in North East, Sikkim and the Eastern state of West Bengal. The tour so far covered Gangtok, Ravangla, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri, Sonada, Miao and Tezu Tibetan settlements. As part of the tour, Sikyong also visited Sikkim CM Shri Prem Singh Tamang.
On 27 February, Ms Lui Shiba of District Office, Tezu greeted Sikyong at the reception ceremony and presented him a memento as a token of appreciation. In turn, Sikyong thanked Ms Shiba and the Chief Minister and Government of Arunachal Pradesh for hosting him as a state guest.
The Tibetan settlement of Tezu led by the Settlement Officer also felicitated the Sikyong with traditional Tibetan thangka as a token of appreciation for his excellent contribution and service to the Tibetan people and cause.
In Miao Tibetan settlement where he arrived on 26 February, Sikyong was greeted by staff of the Settlement Officer, Local Tibetan Assembly, Rangde tsokchung, camp leaders and members of the settlement. Sikyong briefly addressed the public at the welcome ceremony hosted in his honour.
Leaders, representatives and people of Miao-Choephelling collectively presented auspicious Tibetan symbols and statue to the Sikyong as a mark of their appreciation.
