Dharamshala: The Department of Religion and Culture, CTA is organising the Maha Guru Bumtsok ceremony, a symbolic prayer ceremony for long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at Tsuglagkhang main temple from 29 June – 3 July.
At the inaugural prayer ceremony today were President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr Lobsang Sangay, Chief Justice Commissioner Kargyu Dhondup, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Justice Commissioners, Kalons of CTA departments, Tibetan Election Commissioner Sonam Choephel Shosur, Auditor General Gompo Phuntsok, members of Tibetan parliament and Secretary Tenzin Lungtok, Department of Religion and Culture, CTA.
The annual Maha Guru prayer offering is a Tibetan Buddhist ritual that involves distribution of food and edibles on large scale to devotees. Local Tibetans and non-Tibetan devotees attend this ritual offering that lasts for several days with great devotion.
The prayer ceremony will conclude on 3 July.
