Dharamshala: The Department of Religion and Culture on Friday launched the ‘Tibetan prayer app‘ and book on ‘Tibetan Costumes and Jewellery’.
As part of the 16th Kashag’s digitisation effort, the launch of this prayer application in particular is one of the many digitisation projects of the administration to achieve its commitment to digital transformation.
The launch event held at the department this morning was attended by Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA), Secretary Chemi Tseyang, Additional Secretary Dhudul Dorjee, and the staff of the department.
Geshe Lhakdor inaugurated the prayer app and underlined in his address key attributes such as reliability, security, structured content etc. for developing a successful mobile-based app. He commended the vision behind developing the app, adding, the users make an earnest effort to bring about a spiritual transformation.
Secretary Chemi Tseyang unveiled the book composed by Kelsang Khedup Tsennyer. The book comprises photographic descriptions of traditional Tibetan costumes worn in different parts of Tibet among different hierarchies. This pictorial record honors Tibet’s age-old tradition and culture while simultaneously reminding the grave necessity for its preservation.
Funded by Unione Buddhista Italiana, the prayer app is available on both android and ios. The funding for the book is generated by USAID.
