Washington DC: Renowned Chinese scholars and activists based in the US and other nations joined a virtual discussion titled ’74 years of Soviet Union, the End or Continuation of the Chinese Communist Party’ held on Sunday, 26 September.
Organised by IPK Media, the virtual seminar began with opening remarks from Cai Xia, former advisor of the Chinese Communist Party and Wang Ruiqin, Founder of IPK media. Speakers were then invited to share their insight on the topics of their expertise. Among the speakers include Chinese Liaison Officer Tsultrim Gyatso from the Office of Tibet, DC, renowned Chinese activists and scholars Wei Jingsheng, Huping, Bei Ming and Ilishat H Kokbore of East Turkistan.
Tsultrim Gyatso spoke on his topic: 70 Years of “Liberation of Tibet” and Tibetan Democracy Bestowed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He explained the predicament of Tibetan representatives during the signing of the Seventeen Point Agreement while sharing the content of the book written by Khemay Sonam Wangdu, the general of the Tibetan military, one of the representatives who signed the Agreement. In the book, General Wangdu described the controlled environment when the agreement was signed where stamps of each Tibetan representative were created by CCP. At a banquet ceremony after the signing of the agreement, Chairman Mao told general Wangdu and other representatives that their military size in Yan An was less than the general’s Tibetan armies and Zhang Guohua, the commander who later led the Chinese Liberation Army in Tibet was only a little kid at that time. In the book, General Wangdu also outlined Mao’s hypocrisy when he said that the agreement was reached peacefully when in reality it was signed under duress. He also mocked the representatives by claiming they could become Chairman of China if they had the knowledge and ability.
The Chinese liaison officer described that instead of liberation and having the luxury of taking influential leadership positions in the CCP, Tibet was under continuous suppression policies of CCP. He introduced the struggles and agony of Tibetans in Tibet under a decade of CCP’s repressive policies, be it the land reform and massacre of Tibetans in the 1950s to self-immolations. Tibetans were fighting in the darkest time of Tibetan history while China is claiming 70 years of Liberation of Tibet. Tsultrim then introduced the democratization of exile Tibetans and the development of 3 pillars of democracy, the structure of the Tibetan Administration and the election process which is the bestowed gift of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibetan people and one which is notable for the most successful example in history of exiled communities. In conclusion, Tsultrim requested the Chinese to verify the truth and judge accordingly.
Wei Jingsheng outlined the harsh policy implemented by Xi Jinping throughout his term of leading China in a bid to gain control over destroying every stage of society. He said that it won’t be long until the Chinese Communist Party will see its downfall just as it happened with the Soviet Union when it collapsed.
Huping and other guest speakers spoke on the political transformation Soviet Union and shared their perspective on China’s political transformation. Ilishat shared the destruction and genocide implemented by CCP in East Turkistan and shared the information about the establishment of a united Uyghur exile government, that Uygur leaders around the world are gathering to elect a leader to lead Uygurs under one umbrella.
