Dharamshala: A young Tibetan nomad from the nearby nomadic township of Meruma in Ngaba (Ch: Aba) county in Tibet’s traditional province of Amdo died on Tuesday after setting himself on fire to protest Chinese rule of Tibet and its hardline policies against the Tibetans. Yonten, aged around 24, set himself ablaze in the center of town nearby Meruma at around 4 pm local time on 26 November 2019. More

Dharamshala: Three Tibetans who had self-immolated in 2012 protesting against Chinese rule and policies in Tibet have now been identified with their photographs. Although details of the three self-immolators were received and recorded in the same year, their photographs became available only years later. All three died on site after their immolation protests. More

DHARAMSHALA: The latest Tibetan self-immolater has been identified as Wangchuk Tseten, according to sources inside Tibet quoted by Tibetan media. Wangchuk Tseten, a 30 year old father of three from Asey Gyechak nomadic region in Ngagrong county, Kardze (incorporated into China's Sichuan province) set himself on fire on 15 April 2017. More

DHARAMSHALA: Further details have emerged about the self-immolator protester who set himself on fire on Thusday in Machu country of Tibet’s Amdo province. Tashi Rabten, 33, known to his friends and family as Tarab, is a former monk from Teushel village in Machu County, Kanlho, eastern Tibet. He succumbed to his injuries. More

DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan self-immolated at around 5 pm local time today (8 December) on the streets of Machu county in Tibet's Amdo Province. According to a video received, a body is seen engulfed in flames . A woman standing nearby is heard reciting prayers in the name of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The video also shows police arriving at the scene and taking away the charred body. More

DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan woman, aged in her 50s, mother of five from Dotsa village in Dzoge County, Ngaba Prefecture has reportedly self-immolated and died on March 23 to protest Chinese rule in Tibet. Due to severe clampdown on communication with the outside world, the news of Sonam Tso’s self-immolation arrived late. More

Rinpoche, imprisoned since 2009 for refusing to denounce His Holiness the Dalai Lama, was escorted secretly to his home by the Chinese prison authorities. More

DHARAMSHALA: Sonam Tobgyal, a 26-year-old Tibetan monk from Kyegudo, set himself on fire at around 6 pm on 9 July at Gesar Square, Kyegudo in Yulshul Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Incorporated into China’s Qinghai Province) in protest against the repressive policies of the Chinese government in Tibet. Local Tibetans who witnessed the incident took him to a nearby hospital. More

DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan man, Sangye Khar, aged 34, set himself on fire yesterday around 9 am (local time) in front of a police station in Amchok town, Sangchu county in Kanlho Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (incorporated into China's Gansu Province). He died on the spot, according to media reports and human rights group. Police arrived shortly after the self-immolation and forcibly removed his body. More
