In his lectures, Geshe Phende stressed that since human happiness and sufferings are basically experienced at mental level and, therefore, he said, it is utmost important to deal directly with the mind to mitigate the problems associated with it.
While explaining about the nature of mind and awareness, gross and subtle awareness, mind and mental factors, Geshe Phende highlighted the importance of mind training in regulating destructive emotions and mitigate the effects of negative impulses and behaviors by uprooting ignorance.
As a part of the mind training, Geshe Phende then explained the important role of meditation and how to practice it effectively.
