Dharamshala: Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen from the Department of Religion and Culture (DRC), Central Tibetan Administration, attended the Ratna Menling Nunnery’s commencement of Geshema Degree to its second batch of Karampa on 17 November 2023.
The event was also attended by Tibetan Parliamentarian Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen, deputy chair of the Tibetan Bon association, Tibetan Settlement officer of Dolanji Bonshi, principal of the local Tibetan Sambhota School, representatives from various NGOs, and local Tibetan residents.
A four-day graduation ceremony from 14 to 17 November was held at the Ratna Menling Nunnery in Dolanji, Himachal Pradesh, to confer highest academic title of monastery to a group of nuns. Gyalwa Menriwa Lungtok Dawa Dargyey Rinpoche, the 34th Menri Trizin, and Menri Lopon Rinpoche, the principal instructor at Menri Monastery, bestowed Geshema degree and title respectively to the recipients on the final day of the ceremony.
As part of the convocation, the representative from Central Tibetan Administration Additional Secretary Kunga Gyaltsen addressed the event to congratulate graduating nuns. He beseeched Menri monastery and Ratna Menling Nunnery to continue educating the local community as per the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama while underscoring the utmost importance of preserving and promoting Tibetan language and ancient traditions in his talk.
