A homage to the Tibetans who have sacrificed their lives for Tibet:President of the TWA
12 March, 2003: Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) today carried out a Candle Light Vigil in memory of all the Tibetans who have sacrificed their lives for Tibet. The Vigil was organized in conjunction with the 44th anniversary of March 12th women’s national uprising day.
The President of the Association appealed for more efforts in promoting peaceful negotiation on the Tibetan issue. The Association pledged to continue their ‘social development efforts aimed at improving the lives of women and children’ both inside Tibet and in exile.
‘The candles we are holding symbolise prayer lamps of respect and homage to all the Tibetans who gave their lives for Tibet. It is also a beacon for the world to see the truth and support His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s initiative in bringing a peaceful resolution to our issue’, the President explained.
Hundreds of Tibetans braved the cold wind and rain which started soon after the solemn walk began from the main town Mcloed Gunj.
