Dharamshala: On the morning of 10 March, the day marked as the 60th anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising day, former President of Botswana HE Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama exchanged greetings with His Holiness the Dalai lama alongside President of CTA Dr. Lobsang Sangay at the residence of His Holiness.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama presented Dr. Ian with one of his books as a gesture of good will and warm welcome.

Former President Dr. Ian Khama later graced the 60th Tibetan National Uprising day commemoration at the Tsuglagkhang complex in Dharamshala as chief guest.

Hon. Shri Shanta Kumar, former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh sitting Member of Indian Parliament; Mr. Michael Brand, Member of the German Bundestag; Mr Thomas Mann, Member of European Parliament, President of the Tibet Interest Group; Mr. Garnett Genuis, member of Parliament from Alberta representing Conservative Party of Canada; Ms. Linda Duncan, Member of Parliament from Alberta representing New Democratic Party of Canada; Mrs. Lucia Duris Nicholsonova, Deputy Chairman of the Slovak National Council; Ms. Mei Nu Yu, MP, Democratic Progressive Party, Taiwan; Ms Sandy Kalyan, MP, Democratic Alliance, South Africa; Mr Alberto de Belaunde, MP, Liberal Party, Peru; Ms Antonella Incerti, MP, Democratic Party, Italy; Mr. Matteo Bianchi, Legal Party, President of the Commission for the relations with European countries and Dr Yang Jianli, Citizen Power Initiatives for China were also present at the event.

After the event, the Chief guest along with Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and the high-level parliamentary delegation were hosted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for a Luncheon at his residence.
