Dharamshala: The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) is extending a training program of 10 Monpa Students from Arunachal Pradesh for three months from January to March 2019. The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh has written to the President of Central Tibetan Administration and to the office of TIPA in this regard. 

The Director of TIPA Ngawang Yonten in his recent conversation with Sh. Jambey Wangdi, Chairman of the Department of Karmik & Adhatmik (Religion & Culture) said that the extension period of 3 months shall be taken up very positively.

Ten Monpa students from Arunachal Pradesh is undergoing training from August 2018. These students will become a trainer for the newly established Monpa Institute of Performing Arts in Arunachal Pradesh.

Artistic Director of TIPA Samten Dhondup said that ‘main purpose of the training is to enhance the tradition and culture of Monpa that includes its traditional songs, dances, and instruments’. The trainees have been given an opportunity to perform six songs of Monpa along with artists from TIPA during the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Sankisa, UP from 3-5 December 2018.
