Washington DC: Representative Ngodup Tsering and Government Relations Officer, Tenzin Palkyi met with Senator Tim Kaine in Virginia on 23 October.

The Senator spoke about his meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and with CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay after His Holiness devolved his political authority to the elected leadership.
Representative Ngodup offered him a traditional white silk scarf and a book on Tibet, titled, ‘Tibet in Agony’ written by a Chinese scholar and published by Harvard Press.
The Senator assured the Tibetan delegation that he will assist the Tibetan cause in whatever way possible. Other members of the Tibetan delegation included Khenpo Samdup, Tencho Gyatso and Tendol Gorab.
Senator Kaine was Hillary Clinton’s running mate in 2016 and served as Governor of Virginia prior to that.
The Senator also assured his support for the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act in his response to a petition sent by the President of the Capital Area Tibetan Association. He is also a member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee.
