“TIBETANS IN DIASPORA : A SUCCESS STORY” AN EXHIBITION OF PHOTOS OF THE TIBETANS IN DIASPORA IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Brussels: The Bureau du Tibet, Brussels on Tuesday announced a photo exhibition titled “Tibetans in Diaspora : A Success Story” to be held in the European Parliament from 27 to 31 August. The exhibition is being hosted by Mr Thomas Mann, MEP, President of the Tibet Interest Group.
The photos of the Tibetans in this exhibition are by well-known photographer Albertino d’Urso, which has been exhibited around the world. Ms d’Urso has for more than 10 years followed in the footsteps of Tibetans forced to escape from their homeland from Chinese repression. The exhibition documents their new lives throughout the world — Italy, India, Nepal, Taiwan, New York, UK, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, and Canada.
She has received several awards, including Canon Young Photographers Award, Lens Culture International Exposure Award, Julia Margaret Cameron Award and International Photography Awards.
Most importantly, the exhibition is led by some 10 photos of distinguished Tibetans around the world to illustrate Tibetans’ success story. They have been honored and recognized in the recent past. Some of them are:
1. Ms Bhutila Karpoche, Member of Canadian Provencial Parliament
2. Amchi Yeshi Dhonden, recipient of Padma Shri award (top Indian civilian award).
3. Dr Tenzin Dorjee, Chair, Commission on International Religious Freedom.
4. Ms Tenzin Dolkar, Minnesota Rail Director.
5. Professor Ngawang Samten, recipient of Padma Shri award (top Indian civilian award).
The exhibition will be inaugurated tomorrow (Wednesday 29/08) at 17.00hrs by Mr Thomas Mann, MEP, at the 3D exhibition area of the ASP building of the European Parliament. Ms Albertina d’Urso will be also present at the inauguration and will address the ceremony.
