Tibetan Parliamentary Delegation with various Indian Law Makers of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha

Delhi : Tibet advocacy campaign in Delhi, led by Deputy Speaker Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, along with Parliamentarians Ven. Geshe Monlam Tharchin and Mr. Karma Gelek, has been successfully concluded with constructive meetings with over 58 Indian law-makers of both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha from 11 different political parties, belonging to 22 different state constituencies, along with over 6 different Ministers; 5 imminent non-parliamentarians political figures as well as Presidential-nominee of the Indian Parliament.

In continuation with the Tibet advocacy campaign, the Tibetan parliamentary delegation from 29 July to 1 August, met with Sh. Maganti Venkateshwara Rao, AP (LS / TDP); Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, J&K (LS / BJP); Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space; Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Delhi (LS / BJP); Sh. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Telangana (LS / TRS); Smt. Kahkashan Perween, Bihar (RS / JD(U); Sh. C.N. Jayadevan, Kerala (LS / CPI); Sh. Ram Shakal, UP (RS / BJP); Prof. Kuruppassery Varkey Thomas, Kerala (LS / INC); Sh. Satyapal Singh, UP, India’s Minister of State for Human Resource Development responsible for Higher Education (LS/ BJP); Sh. Thawar Chand Gehlot, MP, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment (RS / BJP); Sh. Suresh Kodikunnil, Kerela (LS / INC); Sh. Kiren Rijiju, AP (LS / BJP); Sh. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, UP, former Union Minister of State (LS / BJP); Sh. Birendra Kumar Chaudhary, Bihar (LS / BJP); Sh. Ripun Bora, Assam (RS / INC); Sh. Janardan Mishra, MP (LS / BJP); Dr. Vasudevan Maithreya, TN (RS / AIADMK); and Sh. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Maharastra, MoS Home Affairs (LS / BJP).

On the final day of the Tibet advocacy campaign on 1 August, the Tibetan Parliamentary delegation along with 12 members of Indian parliament, Secretaries and dealing staffs from Secretary of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, India-Tibet Coordination Office, Delhi and a dealing staff from Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat attended the meeting of All Party Indian Parliamentarians’ Forum for Tibet (APIPFT) under moderation of its Conveyor Sh. Shanta Kumar, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and member of Lok Sabha, Indian Parliament at Constitution Club, Delhi.

During the meeting, erstwhile agendas as determined in earlier APIPFT meetings were reviewed and the state of the ongoing advocacy campaign were discussed. Respective resolutions were also passed after the deliberation between the Tibetan parliamentary delegation and members of APIPFT. Thereby, successfully concluding the 10 days Tibet advocacy campaign at Delhi.
