DHARAMSHALA: A delegation of 8 doctors from AIIMS Delhi is organising free medical checkup for Tibetans in Dharamshala from 14 to 16 July. The camp will begin from 10 AM onwards at Tsuglagkhang.

President Dr Lobsang Sangay, Central Tibetan Administration hosted the delegation for a ceremonial reception at the Kashag Secretariat on Friday.

Also present were Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen, Department of Education and Kalon Choekyong Wangchuk, Department of Health, CTA and Kashag Secretary Topgyal Tsering.

The AIIMS delegation comprises of an Eye surgeon, Gastrosurgeon, neurosurgeon, ENT, oncologist, medical professors and general surgeon.

The medical camp is being organised by Patient Care Trust, a non-profit organisation serving Tibetan communities that need medical assistance and healthcare all over the world. The medical camp was 50% funded by His Holiness the Dalai Lama Trust under Central Tibetan Administration.

The Patient Care Trust was founded by Sonam Wangyal. Since 2012, Mr Wangyal and his team have taken on the cases of around 1300 vulnerable patients under the guidance of PCT’s advisors, His Eminence, Professor Samdhong Rinpoche and Lama Lobsang.
