MINNEAPOLIS: Tibetans in Minneapolis, Minnesota came together in large numbers to witness a rare photo exhibition on the Life and Legacies of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the contemporary History of Tibet, on 27 and 28  April.

The two-day event in Minneapolis, the second stop of the Tibet Museum’s month-long exhibition and fundraising tour in North America, saw hundreds of Tibetans and non-Tibetans including the senior citizens and a large contingent of school going Tibetan children who had come to attend the weekend Tibetan and cultural classes. The two themed exhibition ‘Biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’ and ‘A Long Look Homeward’ were showcased at the Tibetan community hall in Minneapolis.

A documentary film titled ‘Out of this world: A journey into Forbidden Tibet’, documenting the journey of Lowell Thomas Sr., a radio broadcaster and journalist; and his son into Tibet in 1949 was also screened for the visitors. The exhibition and documentary film received lots of appreciation by the visitors. Minneapolis, Minnesota has one of the largest Tibetan diaspora population in North America.

The two-day event was organized in close collaboration with Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota and facilitated by the Office of Tibet, Washington DC.
