DHARAMSHALA: Kalon of Department of Education, CTA visited Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School, which is a model school for the implementation of Basic Education Policy for Tibetans students from Class IV – VIII.
Kalon, accompanied by Mr Tsering Samdup, Head of Education Council was greeted by Headmistress Ms Tenchoe and members of the School.
During the inspection visit, Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen released two Tibetan animated films: Akhu Phagpa Episode III; Jorgyal and Dhondup Episode I. Akhu Phagpa, a 3D animation film is a sequel of the two Akhu Phagpa series launched by the Education department in June last year. The film is created by Jamphel Animation. Jorgyal and Dhondup Episode 1 is a new series in the children’s story. The film is made in 2D format by Animatic Vibes Design and Tibetan Dubbing Society. The films are funded by USAID and Global Affairs Canada respectively.
At the release, Kalon interacted with the students; discussing their reactions to the animation and also enquiring their interest in reading.
She said, “One of the key qualities of a good student is interest and ability to read books. Reading will open your mind to new information in all the different fields such as history, culture, science and world events”. She encouraged them to create a daily routine for reading with friends, classmates and teachers.
Headmistress Ms Tenchoe presented a brief background of Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen and expressed thanks for the visit.
Kalon later visited students of class V and VII and conducted an interactive language class.
