PAONTA: The Settlement Office of Paonta Cholsum Tibetan Settlement organised a day-long Thank you India event on 10 April.
The event is in keeping with yearlong Thank you India campaign launched by the Central Tibetan Administration to honour the unparalleled support and hospitality extended by the Indian government and its people.
Shri Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Hon’ble Member Legislative Assembly, BJP from Sirmour District and Kalon Choekyong Wangchuk, Department of Health, CTA graced the event as chief guests. Other Indian dignitaries included Dr Madan Lal Khurana, President of Indo-Tibet Friendship Society, Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDM) and local Indian representatives.
Settlement Officer of Paonta Cholsum in his introductory remarks, expressed deepest gratitude to Indian community of Paonta and local government for their unrelenting support towards Tibetan people.
Kalon Choekyong Wangchuk greeted Shri Sukh Ram Chaudhary and felicitated the Indian dignitaries with the Thank you India memento.
The day-long event was attended by scores of Tibetans and local Indians. Members of local Tibetan settlement and students of Sambhota Paonta presented various cultural performances.
Chief guest, Shri Sukh Ram Chaudhary inaugurated Tibet Museum’s photo exhibition on the ocassion. The photo exhibition featured three different themes: India and Tibet – Ancient Ties and Current Bond, Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Journey into Exile.
