DHARAMSHALA: The 23rd Shoton (Tibetan Opera Festival) originally scheduled to be held from 18 April is postponed by two days in solidarity with the recent tragic accident of a school bus in Himachal Pradesh which killed 27 people including 23 children. The festival will now be held from 20 – 25 April at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) in McLeod Ganj.

Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr Lobsang Sangay, President of the Central Tibetan Administration, will grace the inaugural ceremony of the festival.

Twelve troupes from different parts of India and one from Nepal will each present short excerpts of their performances at Dharamshala following which the festival will continue in different locations.
