CALIFORNIA: Representative Ngodup Tsering of the Office of Tibet based in Washington DC visited the culture center of Tibetan Association of Northern California (TANC) on 15 April and inspected the classrooms and interacted with the students. He was welcomed by Tenzin Rangdol, President of TANC and Pema Tsering Dekhong, Principal of the cultural center.

Representative Ngodup Tsering also hosted a general meeting with the President and Vice President, staff and students of the center. He lauded the teachers and students for their commitment to the preservation of Tibetan culture. He also spoke about a plan to organise training for the teachers of the center.

In the afternoon, Representative Ngodup Tsering addressed the members of the Tibetan community at Phuntsokling community hall of TANC. In his address, he spoke about the Office of Tibet’s main activities, importance of Tibetan Unity, role of Tibetan parents in encouraging Tibetan children to study Tibetan language, the recent visit of US Congressional delegation to Dharamshala, CTA president Dr Lobsang Sangay’s recent visit to Washington DC, followed by a question and answer session.

Tenzin Norbu, Vice-President of TANC, gave the introductory remarks while Tenzin Rangdol, President of TANC, read out the annual report of TANC. Representative Ngodup Tsering was accompanied by Kunga Tashi and Tenzin Tsepak, the Chinese and Tibetan liaison officers respectively of OOT Washington DC.
