Johannesburg: Representative Ngodup Dorjee participated in an event organised by the Bangladesh Buddhist Community Forum of South Africa as a special guest on 26 December at LAMRIM Buddhist Center.

The event was a social gathering of the members numbering more than 500 people, all belonging to the Buddhist community from Bangladesh. South Africa has a large number of immigrant workers from South Asian countries including many from Bangladesh.

Although, Bangladesh is an overwhelming Muslim majority country but almost 3% of the population are Buddhists confined mostly in Chittagong Hill Tracks and Chittagong plain areas belong to Tribal groups of Hill Track and Bengali Barua community in the plain region.

Other guests include Philip and Alex, Trustees of LAMRIM with High Commissioner of Bangladesh HE Shabbir Ahmad Chowdhury as the Chief Guest.

The Representative introduced the Office of Tibet’s works and highlighted the grim Human Rights situation in Tibet.
