Dharamshala: Lhadup, local Justice Commissioner of the northern region, which includes the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh, has been allotted additional charge of the southern region with effect from 6 September 2017 until new Local Justice Commissioner for the southern region is appointed. The southern region has territorial jurisdiction over five Tibetan settlements and Tibetans living in six cluster sites in Karnataka, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, Goa and Tamil Nadu.

Lhadup graduated with a law degree from Mysore in Karnataka. He also participated in the 2nd Tibetan lawyers training, organised by the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. He was sworn-in as the local Justice Commissioner for northern region, after the eastern local commission in Ravangla was permanently closed on 31 March.
