DHARAMSHALA: Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development (TED), an initiative of the Department of Finance in collaboration with the Mysore Tibetan Students Association (MTSA), established the first Tibetan Entrepreneurs Hub in Mysore city which aims to foster entrepreneurship by focusing on providing capacity building support, entrepreneurial development support and developing of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. The hub also aims to enable new and future entrepreneurs to access events and resources, share ideas and content, organize and market activities, and forge relationships across India and the world.
A two-day event was held at Mysore where, TED program officer, Mr Tenzin Norsang gave a presentation on the TED program and its vision and the importance of entrepreneurs towards the overall development of a community. The first day was an introductory session where the Tibetan youth were invited to participate in the hub programs. On the second day, a series of discussion was held with the participants to formalise the agenda and decide upon the schedule of the hub sessions as per the academic calendar of the various institutes in Mysore.
A total of over 35 Tibetan youth participated in the two day program.
“It is a unique opportunity provided by the CTA, and I personally feel such platforms should be extended to other cities as well to maximize the benefit of such programs. I truly believe such initiatives will create more entrepreneurs in our community.” said Mr Rigchen Wangyal, president of the Mysore Tibetan Students Association.
TED is an initiative of the Department of Finance, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) aiming to mobilize and amplify Tibetan entrepreneurial spirit by fostering, nurturing, accelerating value-add connections and celebrating entrepreneurship. TED aims to affect the profound transformation of the Tibetan community in-exile with its role as a mobilizer of the Tibetan entrepreneurial spirit to partake in global opportunities and contribute to the community’s economic well-being. In doing so, TED aims to support existing businesses’ expansion and sustainability, as well as convert high-potential youth business ideas into successful ventures.
