DHARAMSHALA: The Chairman and Vice Chairman of the 9th Chauntra Local Tibetan Assembly were sworn in at a brief ceremony held at Chauntra Tibetan settlement on 20 September 2016.

The Tibetan Local Justice Commissioner for northern region, Mr Lhadruk administered the oath to newly-elected Chairman Mr Pema Jigmey, Vice Chairman Mr Tsering Phuntsok and nine members of the 9th Chauntra local assembly.

Later in the day, the Local Justice Commissioner for northern region Mr Lhadruk addressed the students and local Tibetans of Chauntra Tibetan settlement on the ‘Responsibility, Power and Jurisdiction of Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission and of all the three pillars of Tibetan democratic administration’ – in accordance with the Charter for Tibetans in exile.

In order to improve legal awareness among the public, Mr Lhadruk discussed the rights and legal procedures for appealing a case in the Tibetan local justice commissions.
