DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today congratulated Mehbooba Mufti of the Peoples Democratic Party, who took oath this morning as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba head a coalition government with BJP in the only Muslim-majority state.

“As you embark upon the responsibility of the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, I wish you all the luck and success in your endeavors. May the new government under your supreme leadership work for the public aspirations and peace of the region.”

“I also take the opportunity to congratulate Dr Nirmal Singh, the Deputy chief minister and all the 23 ministers who took oath today,” Sikyong wrote.

Mehbooba was administered the oath of office along with 22 ministers by Governor N N Vohra in Jammu, three months after the state came under Governor’s Rule on January 8.
