OSLO: After the very successful visit of Sikyong in Denmark, Representative Thubten Samdup and Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay arrived in Oslo on 21st of May afternoon and received at the airport by Mrs Ngawang , Tibetan Community President of Norway and group of Tibetans.
Sikyong’s first day in Oslo started with the interview at NRK-TV Urix interview which was aired later that night for 8 minutes.
On the second day, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay was invited to a prestigious Breakfast Meeting by Civita, a liberal think tank, in Oslo May 21. He spoke on the current situation in Tibet and the recent visit of His Holiness to Norway followed by question and answer period to a full house. His talk was received very well by the audience and in fact, we were told this is the first time speaker was given a standing ovation after the talk in Civita. There were few Tibetans in the audience who later came up and told Sikyong that they felt very proud to be Tibetan.
Sikyong also met during the visit with leader of the Tibetan Parliamentary Friends Mr. Ketil Kjenseth and Michael Tetzschner and with Youth Party Leaders. Later in the day, he also met with the Amnesty International Secretary General of Norway, Mr. John Peder Egenaes and Mr. Bjorn Engesland Secretary General of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee.
A public talk was organised by the Norwegian Tibet Committee at the Literature House and Sikyong spoke on “Tibet Past, Present and Future: How can you help the cause of Tibet”.
On the last day, meeting was held with the board members of the Norwegian Tibet Committee, Tibetan Community of Norway, Voice of Tibet and members of the Norwegian Youth Committee. Later, Sikyong and the Representative gave a talk to the Tibetan community members followed by dinner hosted by the community. They both left Oslo the next day early morning for London and Delhi.
