DHARAMSHALA: Kalon Dolma Gyari of the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration met Virbhadra Singh, chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the paragliding pre-world cup championships held in Bir near Dharamsala.
The week-long event was being held near the Tibetan settlement of Bir in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is being organised by the state tourism ministry.
The Tibetan community residing in the Tibetan settlements of Bir, Chauntra as well as the monks and nuns of various monasteries in the area held a grand reception for the chief minister and Kalon Dolma Gyari. The Tibetan community also presented cultural performances in honour of the chief minsiter’s visit.
The chief minister was accompanied by Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma, senior police officials of the state, deputy commissioner and various other state officials.
Bir Billing is a world famous site where paragliders from all over the world come to experience the beauty of the valley as well as paragliding. More than 107 pilots including 12 women participated in this year’s event.
