Health Kalon Concludes Visit to Tibetan Settlements in South India

Dharamshala: Health Kalon Mr. Chope Paljor Tsering returned after his 17 days official tour to southern Tibetan Settlements viz. Mundgod Doeguling, Bylakupee LugSam, Bylakupee Dekyi Larsoe, Hunsur Rabgyaling and Kollegal Dhondenling, from 24 July to 9 August, 2008.

During the tour, he visited the Department's hospitals, Mentsekhang branch clinics, Monasteries' hospitals, met with the medical and non-medical staffs and held meetings with relevant officers including chief representative of south zone and respective settlement officers to discuss health issues and means to improve general health of the people.

He also held general public meetings at all the settlements and addressed them on the importance of maintaining good health through balance diet and physical exercises.

On his way back to the Dharamsala, the Health Kalon also took opportunity to meet the college students and general public in Bangalore, where he gave a talk on general health and preservation of our national identity in exile.

Asked about the tour, the Health Kalon said that he was much impressed by the good standard of our hospitals, dedication of respective administrators and all the staffs including medical and paramedical staffs.

He also said that it was an educative tour for himself as the Department prepares for the extensive preventive program in future.

The Health Kalon accompanied by the Project Officer Mr Tenzin Ignyen left Bangalore on 8 August and reached Dharamsala on 9 August 2008.
