Tibet Support Groups Rally Support for Tibet

Dharamshala:The All India Tibet Support Groups demanded that the Indian govenment should play a vital role in facilitating the dialogue process between the representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the People's Republic of China to resolve the issue of Tibet.

As the rally held under the banner of Core Group for Tibetan Cause in New Delhi on 10 December, some 1000 Indian suporters and Tibetans took part in the rally, which kicked off at Jantar Mantar and proceeded to Parliament building.

It was mentioned in their press note that, "In view of the high stature that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has gained at the international levels as the greatest symbol of peace and compassion, the Government of India should seriously think of honouring him with Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour."


Thousands of Indian Supporters and Tibetans joins the rally
"We want to remind the Indian government that Tibet as a buffer between India and China is the only lasting guarantee for peace on India's nothern borders and lasting seurity for its neighbours," the note added.

Also during the rally, Mr Bashisht Narain Singh, convenor of All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet (APIPFT), Indresh Kumar, patron of Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM) and other dignitaries addressed the gathering.

Similar demonstration and public rallies were held in other parts of India at the same time to mark the conclusion of Intensive Year of Support to Tibetan Cause", which started early this year.

Other organisations including, the APIPFT, India Tibet Friendship Society, BTSM, Himalaya Committee for Action on Tibet, Friends of Tibet, Himalayan Parivar and Youth Front Liberation Front of Tibet took part in the rally.
