Update: His Holiness' Japan visit

While expressing happiness over the visit of His Holiness despite his hectic schedule, Ven Hayashi Hideyori, the school principal urged the students to make the best out of this great opportunity.

While despising violence, which caused great human suffering and environmental destruction in the 20th century, His Holiness said that the 21st century should be the century of peace and dialogue.
His Holiness outlined that young people should prepare for a more peaceful 21st century.
"We are still facing various problems such as terrorism, as a result of past mistakes." His Holiness said. "All these problems come from negative human emotion, we relied more on physical development and tried to solve the problems through force and violence," His Holiness added.

His Holiness had a brief interacting with monks of the temple ahead of his talk on "Meaningful life and education" at Gokokuji’s Nichi Dai High School.
"Destructive emotions like, hatred, anger, jealousy etc. should be overcome by genuine feeling of compassion toward others," His Holiness told a gathering of 1300 including students and staff members of the school.

His Holiness told the gathering, "Young generation are our hope, you should see that there is enough attention on development human value based on compassion and warm heartedness...to make your life more meaningful."

"The 21st century belongs to you and you can shape this century," His Holiness concluded while receiving roaring appreciation from the gathering.
Later that day, His Holiness conferred audience to a group of Tibetans living in Japan.
