Tibetans in South Africa celebrate US Gold Medal award

The event was jointly organised by the Office of Tibet, Pretoria and the Lam Rim Buddhist Centre in Johannesburg.
The program began with the Tibetan customary tradition of Sangsol (incense-burning ceremony) and offering of prayers for the long-life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
This was followed by singing of the Tibetan national anthem and screening of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s acceptance speech at the award ceremony held on 17 October.
Adding delight to the occasion, many native South African boys and girls presented a colorful cultural songs and dances on the festive celebration. A vegetarian luncheon was also hosted to the participants present on the occasion.
