Year of intensive support for Tibet on launchpad

Dharamshala: "2007: Year of Intensive Support for Tibetan Cause" will be launched at a seminar on "Why Indians Should Support Tibet" at the Shri Ram Centre Auditorium in New Delhi, from Saturday, 27 January.

The Kalon for Information and International Relations, Tempa Tsering, who is also the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at New Delhi, will address the conference.

"The campaign entails a series of programmes by various Tibet Support Groups across the length of the country," says Dr. N. K. Trikha, national convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause.

Eminent people representing various political parties and socio-cultural streams will address the seminar.

These include Prof. Brahma Challaney, strategic expert, Prof. V.K. Malhotra (BJP), deputy leader of the Opposition (Lok Sabha), S.P. Malviya, Congress leader and former Union Minister, JDU General Secretary K.C. Tyagi, and RJD MP Vijay Krishna.

A wide range of print materials highlighting the need for India to support Tibet will also be released on the occasion.

The panel of speakers also includes Gandhian scholar Rajiv Vora, JNU Professor Dr. Anand Kumar, leading social activist Dr. Kuldeep Agnihotri, Member of National Commission on Minorities Lama Zotpa, and Member of National Commission on Schedule Tribes Lama Lobsang.
