Sikkim: A four-member Tibetan parliamentary delegation, consisting of Parliamentarians Dawa Phunkyi, Tsewang Tashi Bhara, Lobsang Choejor, and Sonam Norbu Ratsa, called on a host of high-level officials in Sikkim during their Tibet advocacy tour.

On Friday, the delegation called on Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Shri Sonam Gyatso Lepcha and Deputy Speaker, Shri Ugen T Gyatso, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shri Narendra Kumar Subba and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Shri RS Basnet.

During the meeting, the Tibetan parliamentary delegation apprised the officials on the current situations inside Tibet and the prospects for peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue through dialogue.

The delegation also urged the Speaker and ministers to continue to support the local Tibetan community in Sikkim.

The Indian officials expressed their wholehearted support towards the welfare of the local Tibetan community and towards the peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue. They also informed the delegation of the state’s decision to implement the Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy of 2014 and thoroughly explained the ongoing process.

The delegation also called on Principal Secretary, Shri Alok Kumar Srivasatav, Chief Secretary of Sikkim and Tsechog Ling Rinpoche, Secretary of Public Service Commission, Sikkim.
