BENGALURU: The office of Chief Representative of southern Tibetan settlements marked the 59th anniversary of the commemoration of Tibetan National Uprising day at Bannapa Park, Bengaluru on 10 March.

More than 200 Tibetan students, members of the public and Tibet supporters took part in the commemoration.

The event began with singing of Tibetan and Indian national anthem by Tibetan college students and the song of uprising.

The chief guest of the event was Shri Lehar Singh Soriya, Honourable Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Other guests include Shri PGR Sindhia, Former Minister & National working President of Karnataka Janatha Dal and Shri Sapthagiri Gowda AR President BJP Yuva Morch, Bangalore City,

Chief Representative of Southern Tibetan Settlements, Chophel Thupten read out the statement of Kashag on the occasion and Under Secretary Mr Karma Gelek read out the statement of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile.

In their speeches, the Indian dignitaries expressed their wholehearted support for Tibetan movement and offers prayers for the peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue.

The Chief Representative presented the Thank you India 2018 Calendar to the dignitaries and also apprised them of Central Tibetan Administration’s ‘Thank you India 2018 campaing’, a yearlong campaign of expressing gratitude to the Government and People of India.
