MOSCOW: Over 300 people gathered at “Bele Oblaka” center in Moscow to carry out prayer service to commemorate the 59th anniversary of commemoration of the Tibetan National Uprising Day. The event was jointly organised by Tibet Culture and Information Center (Tibet Office Moscow), Drepung Gomang Center and Moscow Tibetan Community.
The prayers service was led by Drepung Gomang monks. The Tibetans and rest of the supporters recited ‘Words of Truth” in Russian. The prayer was composed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. While reciting, the supporters held the Tibetan Flags in their hands to show their solidarity.
The statement of the Kashag and Tibetan Parliament in Exile was distributed among the general public.
In the Kalmykia, the 10th March commemorative event was jointly organised by the “Kalmyk Friends of Tibet” and the Klamyk Tibetan Association.
In the daily morning rituals, Antonina Kokuoeva read out the Kashag statement to the public. Later, monks and the kalmyk public gathered at the Buddha statue in the Center by the Government building and held banners and images of the self-immolators. Speeches were given by President of “Kalmyk Friends of Tibet” and President of Kalmyk Tibetan Assocation. Tibetans gathered at Potala Culture center and carried prayer service.
While in Buryat, the Local Tibetan Community gathered at one of the Buddhist temples and recited prayers for the Tibetans.
“Russia will be hitting the presidential election polls on March 18th and despite the political tension, the 59th Tibetan Uprising on March 10th was carried out successfully and we would like to thank all those who have shown their support and stood with the Tibetan Struggle for many years,” Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Office of Tibet, Moscow said.
