Cape Town, South Africa: The President of the Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay met with Hon John Steenhuisen, Chief Whip of the Democratic Alliance party, MP and Sandy Kalyan, MP yesterday.

The meeting saw the briefing on the ongoing critical situation in Tibet that has led to the self immolation of 151 Tibetans in Tibet. Dr Sangay also briefed the Parliamentarians on China’s one way expansionist approach, which very much replicates China’s invasion of Tibet that began with building of roads in the name of progress and development.

Dr Sangay also shared the working of the CTA and its democratic process and expressed his first visit to African continent and South Africa as inspirational. He further urged the parliamentarians to take special initiative in forming Parliamentarian Support Group for Tibet in the South African parliament and also extended his invitation to visit Dharamshala.

The parliamentarian shared and discussed with Dr Sangay about the current political situation in South Africa following the recent postponement of the State of the Nation Address. They also assured their support for the Tibet cause.

Dr Sangay also met with the members of Tibet Support Groups where Dr Sangay addressed the gathering on the critical situation in Tibet and how China is misusing its economic ties to overshadow the democratic value and principle of other nations. Dr Sangay expressed his optimism over his first visit to the continent.
