Delhi: Hundreds of Tibetans in Samyelling Tibetan Colony, Majnu Ka Tilla, Delhi gathered on Sunday, 10 December to celebrate the 28th anniversary of conferment of Nobel peace prize on His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama at Samyelling Day School ground.
Chief guest of the event were Representative of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kasur Ngodup Dongchung, Shri Kartar Singh, BJP Councillor and Shri Surreder Kumar, Core Group.
The program started with prayer offering, singing of Tibetan and Indian National Anthem and also cultural performance by students and members of Tibetan community.
Congratulating everyone on the auspicious ocassion, BJP Councillor Shri Kartar Singh pledged to extend full support to address grievances of Tibetans living in Delhi. He also expressed his profound respect for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Shri Surrender Kumar spoke about the cultural affinity shared by Tibetans and Indians since the ancient times.
To mark the event, local Tibetan Women’s Association presented a reward of 15,000 INR to Tibetan families with more than five children and the Tibetan health department honoured one of their longest serving staff.
