Dehradun: An Awareness programme on the Basic Education Policy for Tibetans in Exile was organised by a trio leadership team of Karma Chungdak, Migmar and Sangpo from the Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) Mussoorie in Tibetan schools and settlements in Dehradun.
Key speaker for the awareness talk was eminent scholar, Professor Samdong Rinpoche. Professor Samdong Rinpoche delivered an enlightening talk on the Tibetan Basic Education Policy (BEP), on inculcating social responsibility and gratitude through education and correlating it with implementation of the Policy at THF (Tibetan Homes Foundation) Mussoorie and THF, Rajpur on 10 and 11 September.
‘The meaning of education and the aim of giving education’ as cited in the BEP were highlighted throughout the talk.
On 13 September, the BEP mentors’ team from the THF organised an awareness programme for three hours, including Q & A session, at the Potala community hall in Dekyiling Tibetan settlement.
The awareness programme informed the main contents of Policy to the public, with emphasis on the meaning and purpose of Education.
The programme was presided by the President of local Tibetan assembly and Settlement Officer Col. Norbu and attended by over 250 members from Dekyiling and around.
The ongoing Basic Education Policy awareness programme is being initiated by the Department of Education and funded by USAID through Tibet Fund.
