The budget session of the 16th Tibetan Parliament in progress.

Dharamshala: The second day of third session of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile saw the onset of proceedings of approving the proposed budget of the Central Tibetan Administration for the financial year 2017-2018.

Kalon Karma Yeshi of the Department of Finance, CTA presented the proposed budget of 2439 million rupees for the fiscal year of 2017-18, followed by presentation of the report of Budget Estimate Committee by its Chairman Geshe Monlam Tharchin.

The parliament will continue to deliberate on the proposed budget tabled by the Finance department and will duly approve it following a thorough review over the session.

The proposals include a consolidated budget of all the departments, offices and autonomous bodies of the CTA for the preservation and promotion of religion and culture, rehabilitation and welfare of Tibetans in exile and newly-arrived Tibetans, education and scholarships, promotion of democracy, entrepreneurship and women empowerment, information and international relations and healthcare programmes.
