Washington DC: Ms Jianglin Li, Writer of the critically acclaimed book ‘Tibet in Agony’ and scholar of post-1950 Tibetan history and the Tibetan diaspora, is set to release her forthcoming book ‘Chenrezig Reborn: An Account of Third Tibet’ on 8 February in Taiwan. The book, written in Chinese, is Jianglin Li’s fourth book on Tibet and is being published by Linking Publishing House based in Taiwan.
The book is divided into three main parts, namely i) Journey to Dharamshala ii) A Hamlet in Dauladhar Ranges, and iii) Sacred Site South of the Himalaya. The book chronicles the experiences and the perspectives from a Chinese writer with regard to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan refugees since their flight into exile from 1959, and their efforts to preserve their distinct culture in exile.
Jianglin Li is a Chinese scholar and writer residing in the United States. Li’s last book ‘Tibet in Agony’ was translated into English and published by Harvard University Press. Her other works are currently being translated into English.
The term ‘Third Tibet’ in the book is referred to as the Tibet represented by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration based from Dharamshala, as opposed to the Tibet before Chinese invasion referred to as 1st Tibet and the Tibet under Chinese occupation which is referred to as 2nd Tibet.
