DHARAMSHALA: The Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat concluded a week-long workshop on ‘CTA’s policy, Rules and Regulations to the Newly Elected Members of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’ at Gangchen Kyishong on 10 June 2016.

The resource persons of the workshop were Speaker of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, Members of Tibetan Parliament Mr Pema Jungney, Mr Thupten Lungrig, Geshe Monlam Tharchin and Additional Secretary of the Department of Finance Mr Wangdue Tsering.

The seven-day workshop for the newly-elected members of the Tibetan parliament focused on apprising the members on the Tibetan Charter mandates, rules and regulations of the parliament practices and proceedings, Annual Budget and its rules and regulations, CTA’s policy and its regulations.

From 8 – 10 June, the members visited the Kashag Secretariat and various departments of the Central Tibetan Administration, where they were presented with thorough information on the functions of each department.

On the final day of workshop, the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat organised a luncheon for the newly elected members and the workshop facilitators. In his closing remarks, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel commended the effective exchange of information and ideas during the workshop and congratulated the facilitators and participants on the successful conclusion.

The workshop was funded by FNF, Germany.
