DHARAMSHALA – The eleventh session which is the budget session of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile for the financial year 2016-2017  began today. This is the final session of the 15th Tibetan Parliament.

In his opening remarks, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Mr Penpa Tsering urged the cooperation of the members of Kashag, led by Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and members of the Tibetan Parliament to run the session successfully.

The first day of the parliament session passed resolutions to mourn the demise of His Eminence Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, the supreme head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism; Late Mr Karma Chophel, former Speaker and a serving member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament; Self-Immolators Kalsang Wangdu and Dorjee Tsering.

The parliament also proposed a resolution expressing solidarity with the Tibetans who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Tibet and the ongoing sufferings of Tibetans inside Tibet.

This session of the parliament will discuss and approve the budget of the Central Tibetan Administration for the year 2016-17. The session will go on till 1 April.
