MUSSOORIE: The Department of Education, CTA has started its 2nd phase of Counseling Outreach Program in CST Mussoorie, CST Herbertpur & TNMF School Clementown as well as workshop for parents residing in Tibetan Settlement at Dickyiling, Herbertpur, Poanta Sahib & Puruwala from 17 August – 6 Sept 2015.
Mr. Tenzin Chondhen, Assistant Counselor held guidance classes for students from classes VI – XII, meet students one on one for individual counseling and hold group counseling on topics such as Scholarship & Adolescent’s health related issues. Topics for guidance classes range from Goat Setting to Life Skills etc. Students of classes XI organized Career Exhibition under the guidance of visiting Assistant Counselor and presented it to students of classes VI – XII. Simultaneously, he conducted psychological tests such as Howard Gardner’s MIT -Multiple Intelligence Test for age group (8 – 16) & (16 above), Dr. Holland’s Career Interest Inventory (CII), Career Interest Record (CIR) & Learning Style Questionnaire (VAKT).
He will hold one day workshop for parents residing in Tibetan Settlements at Dickyiling, Herbertpur, Poanta Sahib & Puruwala on 31 Aug, 4,5,6 Sept respectively. Topics for parental workshop are Parent’s role in child’s Career Decision Making, Stages of Child Development, Investment for Child’s Education, CTA’s & Government of India’s Policy and laws governing Child Sexual Abuse & Corporal Punishment, DoE Scholarship. It will be followed by Question & Answer Session. Parents are required to fill both Pre-Workshop Questionnaire and Post-Workshop Questionnaire to assess the usefulness of the workshop and for future improvement of the workshop.
The first phase of the counseling outreach program was conducted in July – Aug 2015 where three schools viz CST Dalhousie, CST Shimla & CST Dholanji and parents residing in Dalhousie, Shimla & Dholanji were covered. Total of 809 students of which 314 were girls and 485 were boys while 129 parents received the counseling services.
The workshop is funded by SOIR-IM, Sweden.
