DHARAMSHALA: Hundreds of Tibetans, Indians and foreign devotees lined the narrow streets of Gangchen Kyishong and Mcleod Ganj in Dharamshala today to give a rousing welcome to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama was returning to Dharamshala, his official residence in exile, after successfully completing a series of public talks, Buddhist teachings and an interfaith meeting in Australia.

Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the democratically-elected Tibetan political leader, welcomed His Holiness on his arrival at Gaggal Airport. Others who went to receive His Holiness at the airport include Speaker Penpa Tsering of the Tibetan Parliament, Kalons of the Tibetan Kashag and representatives of Tibetan non-governmental organisations.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s upcoming schedule include a mega 80th birthday celebration and a long life prayer offering on 21 June organised by the Central Tibetan Administration.
