DHARAMSHALA: Mr. Ngodup Tsering, honorable Kalon for Education inaugurated the 8th “Early Grade Reading Workshop” for Primary Teachers of Tibetan schools in India and Nepal on 30 May 2015. The Kalon has addressed the participants during the inaugural session and briefed them about the very purpose of giving workshops, role of teachers, importance of giving quality education to Tibetan children who are considered to be future seed of Tibet and various programs organised by the Department of Education, CTA.

There are 32 teachers participating in this 5-day workshop from various schools under the Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA), Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS), Tibetan Children’s Villages (TCV), Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF), Snow Lion Foundation, Nepal (SLF) and Munsel School, Spiti.

The Department of Education has been organizing “Early Grade Reading Workshops” since 2014 in its efforts to improve early graders’ academic learning, language development, and intellectual development. Till date above 200 primary teachers have received EGR workshop.

The resource persons for the workshop are Prof. Krishna Kumar and Dr. Latika Gupta from Delhi University. And this workshop is being funded by the USAID through The Tibet Fund.
