DHARAMSALA: On the morning of 13 Nov, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay addressed a capacity building workshop for Tibetan societies and Tibetan Settlement Officers in New Delhi. The workshop was organised by the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration and facilitated by the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Center. Sikyong spoke on the new Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014 issued by the Indian government. Officials present at the workshop include Home Kalon Dolma Gyari, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Representative Kasur Tempa Tsering and Choekyong Wangchuk, member of Tibetan parliament.
In the evening, at the invitation of the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, Sikyong attended a dinner with top police officials, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Assembly Speaker Brij Behari Lal Butail, Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Town & Country Planning Sudhir Sharma and MLAs among others in Dharamshala.
Sikyong spent about an hour with Chief Minister and other dignitaries. He apprised the chief minister about the situation in Tibet and conditions of Tibetans in India in general and Himachal Pradesh in particular. The chief minister has tremendous respect for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and is a friend of Tibet and Tibetan people. He has been very sympathetic and considerate to the cause of the Tibetan people.
