DHARAMSHALA: The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has conveyed his heartfelt greetings to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 79th birthday and wished him long and healthy life, said Mr G S Bali, Minister for Transport, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Technical Education Minister in Himachal Pradesh, while speaking as the chief guest on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrations in Dharamshala today.
Mr Bali said Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of love, compassion, non-violence and religious harmony is a great inspiration for the international community.
He praised harmonious relationship between the Indian and Tibetan communities in Dharamshala, the abode of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Mr Bali said the government and people of Himachal Pradesh entreated His Holiness the Dalai Lama not to shift his residence out of Himachal Pradesh. The request made by the minister came against the backdrop of some media reports that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will move his residence from Dharamsala to south India.
Mr Bali sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs 3 crore for the construction of road from lower Dharamshala town to Mcleod Ganj.
He announced that Tibetans can avail subsidised rice and wheat under the government of India’s food and security bill.
Expressing his happiness over the cultural dances and songs presented by the Tibetan schoolchildren today, he announced a personal reward of Rs 1 lakh for the students.
