DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration would like to express its condolence and sadness over the sad demise of Mr. Lobsang Delek, former Principal of Namgyal Middle School, Nepal. He was 78.
Mr. Lobsang Delek was born in Tibet on 28th March 1936. At the age of twelve, he became a monk in Sera Monastery and studied Buddhism as well as Tibetan literature for eleven years.
Under the Department of Education, he served in various Tibetan schools in Nepal as school head with additional charge of teaching Tibetan language from 1964 to 1981. From 1982 till 2007 he took the responsibility of Principal at Namgyal Middle School, Swanbhu, Kathmandu, Nepal.
In recognition of his over forty three years of service towards education of Tibetan children in exile, the Department of Education presented him a certificate and a Thangka. In 1992 and 2001 he received certificates of appreciation for his 30 years of service from Snow Lion Foundation, Nepal and Sagamatha Foundation, Nepal respectively. He also received a certificate of appreciation on National Education Day in 2005 from the Government of Nepal.
Mr. Delek passed away on 11th May 2014 after dedicating more than 40 years of his life towards education of Tibetan children in exile. The Staff of the Department of Education offer prayers for the departed soul and convey condolence to the family members.
