DHARAMSHALA: As advised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, thousands of Tibetans recited special prayers for the Tibetan cause at Tsuglagkhang, the main temple in Dharamsala, today. The prayer service was organised by the Department of Religion and Culture.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the sidelines of a recent teaching at Drepung monastery in southern India, announced that he would be taking three weeks of meditational retreat for the Tibetan cause in Ladakh from 1 August. He advised Tibetans to recite daily prayers like Mani 1,000 times, Sherab Nyingpo twice and Phagtoe once everyday over the next three weeks.

Tibetans inside Tibet had started reciting the daily prayers to enhance the collective merit of the Tibetan people, reports coming out of Tibet say.

The Kashag Secretariat has notified the CTA staff members to recite the prayers at their offices for half an hour from 12-23 August, and also at their homes.
