DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Religion and Culture will organise a prayer service on Wednesday to express solidarity with all those Tibetans who have self-immolated for the cause of Tibet, and those suffering severe arrests and torture under the Chinese rule.

The Tibetan community in Dharamsala, including staff members of the Central Tibetan Administration, will attend the prayer service at Thekchen Choeling Tsuglagkhang, the main temple, at 4:00 pm, on 6 March 2013.

Tibetans will offer prayers to the three Tibetans who have recently set themselves on fire. Phagmo Dhondup alias Phagmo Tseten, aged 20s, set himself on fire at Jakhyung monastery in Bayen county in eastern Tibets Amdo province on 24 February. His whereabouts and well-being remain unknown. On 25 February, Sandak, a monk of Diphu monastery in Ngaba county in eastern Tibet’s Amdo Province, died after setting himself on fire. On the same day, Tsesung Kyab, in his late 20s, burned himself to death to protest against the Chinese government’s repressive policies at Shitsang Gonsar monastery in Luchu county in Kanlho in Amdo province.
