PARIS: Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to EU Mr Ngodup Dorjee met the newly-elected presidents of Tibet Group in the French National Assembly on 30 January.

Mr Jean-Patricke Gilles and Mr Noel Mamere are the new co-presidents of Tibet Group, with whom the Representative Mr Ngodup Dorjee discussed issues ranging from the current situation inside Tibet and future projects, during a meeting which lasted for more than an hour. Mr Philippe Folliot, former vice president of the group, also joined the meeting.

As one of the premier parliamentary support group, Groupe d’etudes sur la question du Tibet or Study Group on the question of Tibet was first formed in the French lower house on 21 June 1990, by two French deputies, Jean-Michel Belorgy and Louis de Broissia, who also served as the co-presidents of the group.

The last Tibet group had around 180 French deputies as its members.

The first meeting of the newly reconstituted group is scheduled for mid February.
